Competence Framework

The AI Competency Framework for Agricultural Education outlines the knowledge, skills and attitudes students need to understand, apply and critically evaluate Artificial Intelligence in agricultural contexts. It supports the use of AI and data in real agricultural decisions, while recognising the essential role of agricultural expertise.

The framework covers five competency domains: AI and data literacy; agricultural data collection and management; AI applications in agriculture; ethical, safe and sustainable AI use; and practical problem-solving. These domains connect digital competencies with practical agricultural learning.

Competencies develop across three progression levels: Basic, focusing on remembering and understanding; Intermediate, emphasising application and analysis; and Advanced, focusing on evaluation. Teachers can use these levels to select suitable learning outcomes and activities for their students.

Designed for integration into existing subjects, the framework helps educators choose relevant competencies, plan practical activities and assess observable evidence of learning. It provides a shared foundation for preparing students to use AI thoughtfully and responsibly in agriculture.
